Committed to develop Ladakh as most sought-after destination : Dy CM | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 28 (KNO) : Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said the government is committed to ensure holistic development of Ladakh region by providing state of art facilities in different sectors to the people living there so that it comes up as a modal area of the country besides being a hub of tourist related activities. The deputy chief minister was speaking at a function held in connection with the celebration of Losar festival organized by All Ladakh Students Association Jammu (ALSAJ) dedicated to 19th Skushok Bakula on his birth centenary here today Minister for co-operatives, Chering Dorjay was also present. The deputy chief minister said that Ladakh is the crown of the state and we will ensure that it comes up as one of the most sought-after destinations in the whole of the country. He said several flag ship programmes have already been undertaken for ensuring holistic development of this world-famous region in different sectors so that people living in this hilly region get all the requisite facilities needed for modern housing needs. Dr Singh said that people of the region have also rendered innumerable scarifies for defending the territorial integrity of the state and country, which is highly commendable and needs to be appreciated by every county man. He said that they have also exhibited extraordinary valor in difficult times as well and history stands testimony to the fact. Responding to the demands raised by ALSAJ, the Deputy Chief Minister said that they will redressed by taking them up within the country at an earliest. He said that the government is committed to provide quality education and the related facilities to the student community in general and special prison will be provided to the students belonging to Ladakh region. The Minister for Cooperatives Mr. Chering Dorjay also spoke on the occasion and spelt out the importance of Losar in the cultural milieu of Ladakh. He also enumerated the various initiatives undertaken by the present coalition government for ensuring the sustained development of the region and said that regular monitoring is being done so that they are completed within the stipulated time frame. Colorful cultural programme was presented by the students on the occasion in which the famous Ladakhi Singer Phunsong Ladakhi also sang.(KNO)
